I began my career in pure mathematics academia (a PhD and a postdoc in harmonic analysis) and then moved into machine learning from there.

 

I've done research on AI safety at MIRI, and I've worked as a machine learning engineer (and now manager) in several different fields:

• Location prediction and fraud prevention (at Lyft)

• Reliability of Siri's knowledge base (at Apple)

• Modeling credit risk in order to offer better loans to users of personal finance sites (at Upstart)
